Do you have family history photos?
Would you like to learn how to take care of them?
Ever wondered what to do with them?
Worried about how to pass them on?
The Photogenealogist Ann Larkham is unable to join us this month, but Steve Gill has stepped in.
When photography was invented in 1839, it’s unlikely our ancestors imagined that their great-great-great-grandchildren would still be cherishing their photographs nearly 200 years later. Yet here we are, with boxes full of old photos in various stages of aging.
So, what’s the best way to appreciate these images, learn from them, and preserve them for another 180 years? Steve, a professional photo restorer and historian, will guide you through the possibilities—and help you safeguard these valuable memories for future generations. He’ll also be available to answer questions about how AI is being used in photo research and restoration.
If you have questions about dating, restoring, or understanding your old photographs—or if you’re simply wondering what to do with them—submit your queries in advance to events@sog.org.uk, or just join us online!
