Family Tree Maker: Members’ User Group

Using Family Tree Maker by MacKiev and have a question, problem or useful tip to share?

This friendly online session is for Society of Genealogists members who use Family Tree Maker and would like to learn more about the programme with others. Rather than a formal taught course, this is a supportive members’ group where attendees can help each other resolve issues, share experience and build confidence using the software.

This introductory session, with special guest Mark Olsen, Family Tree Maker Ambassador, is designed to launch the SOG Family Tree Maker User Group in a relaxed, "club-like" atmosphere. The focus is on community building and a high-level overview of how FTM can support your genealogical research, rather than a rigid technical lecture. We want to foster a fun environment where everyone learns together, adapting to the group's pace and focusing on the needs of the members rather than a strict agenda.

We will have a brief introduction and then introduce ourselves and our experience level with Family Tree Maker.   Mark Olsen will provide a guided tour of key Family Tree Maker features and recent updates, including a "Don't be Afraid to Click!" segment to help you customize the software to your research needs. We'll take a look at using the built-in Help Menu and Instruction manual before opening up to your questions with live demonstrations.

Whether you are trying to understand a particular tool, tidy up your tree, manage sources more effectively or simply learn from other users, this session offers a welcoming space to ask questions and make progress.
