About the Speaker
Dr Patrice Connelly
Dr Patrice Connelly is a musicologist and genealogist in Australia. Born in Sydney, but resident in Brisbane, she is a casual academic at the University of Queensland. She owns Saraband Music, an early music retail and publishing business that she started in 1994, and has taught viola da gamba since the late 1980s. Her genealogy journey began in 1999, and her PhD thesis contained a solid genealogy component. She is a pre-concert speaker for Musica Viva Australia, and has been a very frequent presenter for the Society of Australian Genealogists. Along the way, she has also had careers as a professional librarian and as a qualified naturopath, as well as taking on numerous volunteer roles in various Australian early music societies. These days she concentrates on teaching, speaking and presenting as well as diving down countless rabbit holes in research and dreaming up novel genealogy talks.
