Please note that Almshouse 14 retains its original structure, so is unfortunately not step-free, features uneven flooring and a set of stairs between the two levels.

Embark on an interactive walk through Almshouse 14 to see for yourself how residents kept warm, slept, ate, and did their washing centuries ago.  

After the tour you can explore the museum and the museum's gardens.

Museum of the Home reveals the ways we live and the many meanings of home. The Museum’s displays of rooms and gardens through time are complimented by galleries, issues-focused programming, and diverse collections that pose the question - 'what does home mean to you?' Located in Grade I-listed 18th century buildings in Hoxton, East London, they explore stories that are personal, powerful and representative of modern London. They are a space uniquely placed to explore the changes to homes and home life that will be necessary for us, as a society, to face the future.
