Researching in Gwent

Are you researching ancestors in Gwent?

Don't miss this free event, where you can connect with experts from the local family history society and local archives to discover the wealth of resources available.

This is a collaboration between Society of Genealogists, Blackwood Family History Society (branch of the Gwent Family History Society), and Gwent Archives. Join us to learn about family history resources for Gwent.

The presentations at this event will cover the historic area of Gwent including the counties of Torfaen, Newport, Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent and parts of Caerphilly.

Else Churchill from Society of Genealogists will talk about:

  • Resources held by the Society covering Gwent.

Carl Woods from Blackwood Family History Society (branch of Gwent Family History Society) will talk about:

  • How the society can help you research your Gwent ancestors.

Bec Howarth from Gwent Archives will talk about:

  • Their records, collections and highlights, how to access them and how they are cared for.

We will also learn how the British Association for Local History and A Vision of Britain Through Time can help you to research in Gwent.

During the presentation, there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions from the panel of speakers.
