Palaeography Club with Caroline Adams

Ever been elated to find a document relating to an elusive ancestor only to be thwarted by the old handwriting? We’ve all been there, right?

Each Club session will cover different tips and tricks for deciphering handwriting from various time periods. Together, under Caroline’s expert eye, you’ll work with fellow members to transcribe a real document, looking at letter forms and abbreviations and honing your palaeography techniques. Not only is this a great way to learn how to read old handwriting, it’s also a chance to learn about various genealogical documents – from parish to poor law records, school or estate documents and more.

Book a spot to watch live.  No-prebooking required to view the recording, which will be available in the Learning Hub for one month.
This event is interactive, you may appear in the recording.
