RootsTech is the world’s largest family history conference, bringing together genealogists and family historians from around the globe through a free programme of online talks and presentations alongside a conference in Salt Lake City.
Join fellow Society of Genealogists members for a RootsTech Watch Party and enjoy the conference together in a friendly, shared online setting. Rather than watching alone, members come together on Zoom to experience selected RootsTech talks as a group.
Participants will join the Zoom meeting around 15 minutes before the RootsTech session begins, giving everyone time to chat informally, say hello, and set the scene for the talk. Once the presentation starts, members can use the Zoom typed chat to share comments, observations, and questions in real time while watching.
Uncover strategies for researching ancestors who crossed borders. This session highlights lesser-known European and North American record sets, explores name and language variations, and introduces translation tools to help genealogists follow immigrant families across oceans, languages, and generations.
After the talk has finished, the Zoom meeting remains open for a relaxed group discussion. This is a chance to reflect on what you’ve heard, exchange ideas, and explore how the themes of the talk relate to your own genealogical interests and research.
RootsTech Watch Parties are designed to combine the rich content of RootsTech with the sense of community and shared learning that the Society of Genealogists offers.
