Book Club: The Lost Family: How DNA Testing Is Upending Who We Are by Libby Copeland (Meet the Author)

Join a relaxed and engaging online book club meeting with journalist and author Libby Copeland, centred on her book The Lost Family: How DNA Testing Is Upending Who We Are.

This session will be a chance to hear Libby talk about her reporting on the rise of home DNA testing and the surprising, often emotional discoveries it has sparked for individuals and families. The conversation will explore what these developments mean for genealogy today - how DNA is reshaping research, revealing hidden connections, and raising new questions about identity, privacy, and responsibility.

Rather than a formal talk, the event will focus on open discussion, with time to reflect on the book, share perspectives, and ask questions directly of the author. It’s an opportunity to think together about the human stories behind genetic data and how genealogists are navigating this rapidly changing landscape.

A thoughtful and accessible discussion for anyone interested in family history, DNA, and the stories that emerge when the two collide.

Booking this session will add you to our Book Club membership and you will receive an invitation to all future meetings. Book Club is a member only event.
