Step into the festive world of a Georgian Christmas through the eyes — and appetite — of Jane Austen.
In this talk, we’ll explore the traditional holiday fare that Jane herself enjoyed, as well as the Christmas dishes featured in her novels and personal letters to her sister Cassandra.
You’ll discover authentic recipes from the late 1780s to the 1810s, all commonly prepared and served during the Christmas season.
The presentation will include historical context, slides, and a live demonstration of the dishes. You'll also receive a selection of Georgian Christmas recipes to try at home and bring a taste of Austen’s era to your own table.
