Week 1: Demystifying DNA Tests
The talk is designed to help the audience to understand the benefits to family historians from taking a DNA test as well as discussing potential concerns. It looks at the different types of DNA tests and how to decide which is the best test for you. At the end of the talk, you will be able to make an informed decision on whether a DNA test is for you.
Week 2: Test Taken, Now What?
This talk is for people who have taken a DNA test and want to know how to discover the key information pertinent to family history research. You will be shown how to explore the results at the main companies and what they are telling you.
Week 3: Starting to Use Your DNA Results in Family History
This talk allows you to start taking the results and actively incorporating them into your family history research. With hints and tips on how to discover more about your DNA matches and working out how they are related to you, you can start using this source of data in your research.

About the Speaker
Mia Bennett
Mia Bennett is a professional genealogist who specialises in DNA analysis for family history. She applies her analysis skills developed as a safety engineer to untangle all the clues provided within family history records and DNA results. She has been researching her family history for over 30 years and was previously a trustee of the Society of Genealogists. Mia is an Associate of AGRA. Mia gives talks on traditional genealogy and DNA both online and in person around the world. She is studying for a Higher Certificate in Genealogy at the IHGS and is an alumna of SLIG and GRIP institute courses in the USA.
