Guidelines for submission of photos

  1. Send military photos to Armed Forces Advice Hour!
  2. Photos should be submitted at 600 PPI if possible.
  3. Include a front and a back scan of the photo even if blank.
  4. Do not crop photos - the edges of phots may provide clues.
  5. Supply as much contextual information as possible.

About the Speaker

Simon Davies

Simon Davies is the founder of the online family archive platform WeAre.xyz. In his own family’s archive, Kevin’s bird’s eye ancestral adventures are recorded and shared with his nearest and dearest. Simon has a track record of technology innovation, having built a mobile app platform that is now part of Facebook and used by over 1bn people worldwide. Outside of work, Simon sits on the committee of the Shropshire Family History Society in England, is a keen naturalist, cyclist and lover of any kind of history. He lives with his wife and two teenage children in West London, England.

About the Speaker

Ann Larkham

Ann Larkham’s career started with the BBC as a television camerawoman, then moved into science communication and education. Now Ann is a photogenealogist, author and advocate of caring for and enjoying family history photographs. Combining her passions for photography and genealogy, she helps individuals and families recognise photos as historical artifacts with a unique ability to connect generations. Ann promotes accessible and engaging ways for people to preserve and share their photo legacy. In doing this, she emphasizes not only the practical aspects of photogenealogy but also the emotional value of old photos. Ann holds a PGCert in genealogy, advanced degrees in zoology, and has undertaken extensive training in photo management. She has contributed numerous articles to Family Tree magazine, given presentations for genealogical societies worldwide, and is authoring a book on photogenealogy, due for publication in 2026 by Pen & Sword.
