Tracing Postal Workers

Any posties in your family?

This talk will guide you through the process of researching ancestors who worked for the British postal service. The records held in The Royal Mail Archive are a rich resource for family historians and cover the whole of the UK and, up until 1920, Ireland too. The talk will include which family history records can be accessed remotely. It will also give some insights into how the postal service has shaped our lives, transforming communication, and how one young woman changed a Post Office rule that had a positive and significant effect on women’s working lives.
