Family historian John Hanson is waiting to welcome you to our virtual common room to discuss the more unusual side of Birth, Marriage, and Death certificates. From a child given 26 forenames—one for each letter of the alphabet—to puzzling omissions and clerical quirks, our hosts will share some of the most curious and confounding examples they've encountered in their research.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along their own examples of certificate anomalies: inexplicable entries, missing registrations, or anything that made you raise an eyebrow while combing through the records. Whether you're hoping to solve a mystery or simply share a good story, this session promises both insight and intrigue for family historians of all levels.

About the Speaker
John Hanson FSG
John Hanson worked for many years for one of the country’s major banks, ending up as a Systems Specialist in mainframe databases. John has written extensively on family history subjects and has been a lecturer and teacher in family history for over twenty-five years, particularly on computers in genealogy and the census. He served on the executive committee of the Guild of One-Name Studies for several years and also as a trustee and served on many committees at the Society of Genealogists. He is currently the research director of the Halsted Trust and is a Fellow of SoG.
