We’ll begin by watching Hidden Stories within Our Houses, a recorded talk created for All About That Place by Rhiannon Lloyd. In this engaging presentation, Rhiannon shares how the walls around us can reveal rich and surprising histories and how she learned to always think sensitively.
Rhiannon will join us live to delve deeper into the world of house history. She’ll be joined by the Society’s Events Manager, Ruth Willmore, who will share her own recent research project: a charming glimpse into the life of a former vicarage she lived in during the early 1980s, brought to life through the memories of the children who once called it home.
There will be plenty of time for discussion, so bring along your own house history stories, questions and discoveries. About the Speaker
Mrs Ruth Willmore
Ruth Willmore is the Events and Education Manager at Society of Genealogists and co-organiser of All About That Place. She is studying for a Masters in Genealogy, Palaeography and Heraldry at Strathclyde University. Ruth is particularly interested in late 19th and 20th Century family history, though will one day find her connection to Ann Dawson, who died in 1755 and was named on a mourning ring inherited by her Grandmother. Ruth lives in North Wales with her husband and three cats, surrounded by heritage railways, perfect for her love of railway history. Previously Ruth worked creating bespoke rail holidays around the world. She is easily swayed by the promise of chocolate.

Rhiannon is a Teaching Fellow with the University of Strathclyde PG Genealogical Studies programme. She also continues work as a professional genealogist, running her own company, Shersca Genealogy.
